Ugh. Word Perfect, Document Gone, Help?

Submitted by admin on October 10, 2009 – 7:14 amOne Comment

My computer had some problem and restarted itself while I was typing a paper. Then when I opened word back up again, it said the whole backup document message, and I said, “Open.” then I realised there was a rename button, and I wanted to hit that to make the file more easily found (Because it’s not like I’ll remember to look for ~(wp1)something or other). I hadn’t made any changes to the document, so when I closed it, so that message would appear and I could hit rename, and it went, “Do you want to save changes to the document ~(wp1)somethingorother?” I hit No, because I hadn’t made any. However, when I reopened word perfect, it didn’t give me the message, “Word Perfect did not close regularly the last time it ran. Would you like to open the backup file?” with the options open and rename. So I looked at my recent documents, and clicked the ~(wp1) one, and it said no such file existed. Then the computer had another spasm when I went to open AOL to ask this question, and it (continue).

Wow I feel your pain! I am not aware of any ways to.
But you could also do a search on your computer, for any files ending in .doc (or whatever format it is) and ones that have been modified recently. Perhaps worth a try.
Just click the start menu, search, documents, then advanced, and let it look for items modified the most recently. Perhaps it will find something.
    Good luck!
