I want that Krimson t-shirt John Wetton wears!
I am a huge Crimson fan – thanks for posting this. Whetton Bruford and Fripp together in this era is arguably my favorite. I could make the case for Belew, Fripp, Levin and Bruford making some amazing music also, but Whetton as a singer and bass player has not been matched since the dissolve of this band at the end of the 70’s.
Amazing…. True Artist. each instrument played be an amazinr artist. Haven’t leason to in a long time. What a fool I’ve been……. genius just genius KC
I love this over and over again. For decades now;-)
Fantastic, this has to happen again, time for KC again to surface. I can’t get this video out of mind. I’m very glad someone had the good sense to capture and share.
Thank you very much!
@mkhoupt88 Song’s name is actually The Great Deceiver. But still, cool.
…Well, I know lots of die-hard Crimson fans are going to despise me for this, but if you want to appreciate the composition beneath all the layers of experimentation in the production, check out the live versions John Wetton did of this song -both electric and acoustic ones.
Can’t help saying, the Sub Rosa-Live in Milan version is BY FAR my favourite one and the one that REALLY made me love this song…
AMAZING.
To go from Fripp’s insane shredding (it was so maddening at the start of it, cause the cameraman seemed determined to not show his guitar while he was doing it. Check again, he does a close-up on his FACE, then pans over every other member when they’re NOT DOING ANYTHING >:( ) to watching that jam (improv?) materialize in front of my eyes was magical.
It also helps that that was some of the best, most coordinated playing I’ve ever seen from a band
True masters at work and a privilage to watch and listen to.
Where have innovative bands like kc gone?? Have we done it all? There success came from having the balls to attempt different things.Bands that do that,(try new stuff) are remembered.Even the Sex Pistols proved that. “Sod the money!! Lets do what we enjoy and maybe we will earn a living” seems to be a good recipe for long team success.
This is on the 40th anniversary Starless and Bible Black DVD.
Saw this tour in Ocala, FL….incredible and Dion opened the show on acoustic guitar….First song was “Cigarettes, Ice Cream….etc. ” Wow !
@insensiblegradations agreed many people say he sucked, but he can play violin like a mad man
Very tasty improv by KC…David Cross was such an underrated member of the band, but shows here what a resourceful player he was. Thanks for the post.
0 Dislikes, that tells the quality of this, and the people who listen to this kind of music
They stretched the already fucking epic (in the orthodox sense of the word) Easy Money from 7 minutes up to 12??
I GOTTA FAVOURITE THIS ONE SO HARD
Include me in on all ….how did you find this? These are the the real heroes from my youth, not sports jack offs. Time signatures galore – total masters/gods of music. Period.
Outrageous and mesmerising
…. fantastic !!!
@BLooDCoMPleX
any king crimson video is a high quality video…
I believe this was at the Palladium if so, I was there. I took leave from the Army to come see KC with Bill Bruford for the 1st time. It was awesome….thanks for posting
OHHH AH DEE AH DEE DAW DAW AH DEE DEE DAW AH DEE AH DEE DAW
Book of Saturday, Easy Money, Larks Tongues in Aspic II…after Red and THRAK this is my favorite King Crimson album.
@peoilund It’s the touch of maddening perfectionism and search for the next new thing that makes him one of the best musicians of all time.
@peoilund Not an easy guy, I admit, but he isn’t an out-and-out douchebag.
